An inspiration board is pretty much a collage of your favorite Images, quotes, photos, postcards, poems, sketches or anything you like.
For some is just a fancy word for bulleting board, for others is pretty clutter. For me is more like hanging art, hanging inspiration.
In a world filled with cyber-everything, the simplicity of physical objects provides us with the inspiration needed for idea generating; it gets all your creativity at skin level (a flor de piel); awakes all our inspiration muses. I happen to have one above my desk, a smaller one in my room and a virtual one (weheartit.com) .. Just using simple clothes pinning and a string or something unexpected like chicken wire would do it.
