As I was painting my toenails with this beautiful coral/orange nail polish, I started to wonder what colors inspire me the most (a turquoise, lavender, coral or bright hot pink always get to me .. but .. the search continues). Even so my favorite color is black (which means I’ve been color blocked for a big portion of my life), I’ve started to appreciate the intensity and variety of colors that the South Florida weather and lifestyle has (yes, my fingers are burning from typing these words .. NYC, I will be always faithful to you!)
Wearing airy clothes and YES color, lots of color! Is no longer an option, is more of a necessity, a social survival tactic around here; everywhere you go, you see an inspiring colorful dress or flowy top with the perfect golden necklace that would just make you want to be at the beach sipping a fruity cocktail.
Spring/Summer 2011 comes with a very brave, fun and refreshing fashion trend: Color Block! The concept is really cool but this name/expression; pretty much found in every fashion magazine, blog or hair salon conversation is damn annoying! .. I just don’t get the name Color Block, Color Block, Color Block, Color Block, Color Block, Color Block; I find it unappealing for a fashion trend, but we’ll go with it.
The concept of mixing (never matching) bold, bright colors is perfect for that desire of change, challenge and why not? re-birth that this season usually brings (Spring cleaning anyone?), not only nature renews itself during spring, in a way, every living creature does...
Always maintain your own sense of style, incorporate trends since they are fun and unavoidably tempting, but never get lost, never turn into another catalogue page… Here are some pieces that could be easily incorporated into anyone’s personal look.
